Mobile Screening
Through a generous donation from Freightliner (they donated our newest truck – a Business Class M2 106 with extended cab) the Oregon Lions now serve more than 40,000 Oregonians each year with its mobile clinic ensuring that more families have access to preventative medical care.
Lions of Oregon has one mobile unit traveling the state providing free care. In Oregon, close to 600,000 residents are without health insurance and others live in rural areas where health care is not easily accessible. The mobile health screening units provide critical services to the people who need it most. In the mobile health screening unit, Lions volunteers check patients’ hearing, vision and blood pressure and volunteer health professionals test for diabetes and glaucoma.
During the 2010-2011 Lion Year the Fundation brought into its field of screening what we call Screening Kits for the purpose of providing free screening in the schools throughout our Multi-District 36. These kits have both hearing and vision screening devices and they have proven to be very effective.
